12 Tony Deprado, IT Director – YK Pao School, Shanghai, China

PodcastFront

Tony Deprado is as thorough and professional as they come. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to speak with him about all things IT Director-related. From breaking down what it has looked like to have been the IT Director for the past year, to offering great insights into how to approach and deploy a BYOD program, to how his IT Director position is evaluated at his current school, Tony offers up great input into what it means to drive IT in a student-centered school such as YK Pao. This is one of the lengthiest conversations to date, and I bet you will come back feeling like it was not long enough for you.

You can visit Tony’s website (www.tonydeprado.com) to get your copy of the BYOD guide he has published and is currently updating.

Enjoy!

10 Andrew Taylor – Humanities Faculty Coordinator, Los Angeles, CA

PodcastFront

Andrew Taylor is part of the Humanities faculty at Vistamar School where I currently work.

I reached out to him because of the way he implements technology in the classroom. He does great work with students, and uses a lot of tools to keep them enganged and to ease his own workload, and is constantly talking to the IT team to find new ways of implementing technology in the classroom. I also wanted to know how an IT department can best support this type of teacher.

Andrew marks episode number 10, something of a landmark for me since starting this podcast.

9 Lisa Howells, Technology Integration in Barcelona, Spain

I spoke to Lisa Howells a couple of weeks ago via Skype. What intrigued me most about her current position is that Benjamin Franklin Int’l School did not have an IT Director since I left in 2012 and only hired her last year. There was a gap between my departure and her arrival. Furthermore her position is totally new at Benjamin Franklin.

This is Lisa’s first post abroad and, though challenging no doubt, she is having great impact on that learning community over at Benjamin Franklin. Listen to her approach and how she continues to cement her presence at that school.
