During the pre-interview conversation I was having with Jerry I was enlightened as to the focus of this podcast. He asked some really good questions about what I wanted to get out of the podcast, and what came to mind was clarity and purpose for this podcast.

I hope you enjoy this conversation with Jerry, and that you’re able to take away great input and information of how decisions are informed throughout a learning community as we continue to play the role of change-agents all around.

Do subscribe, give me some feedback, and give me some stars on iTunes so that I know you are liking what I am doing.

13 David Penberg, Head of School, Innovate Manhattan Charter School, NYC

David Penberg has been involved in international teaching for many, many years. It was during one of his many stops that he and I coincided, and became good friends. Together, he as the Head of School and I as the Technology Director, transformed life at Benjamin Franklin International School in Barcelona a few years ago. Now he is the Head of School of a different kind of school; a charter school in the heart of New York City.

Innovate Manhattan is a middle school like none I’ve seen before. The entirety of their curriculum is web-based, and a student’s normal day is not your usual type of school day. Have a listen and David breaks it down in a very interesting way for us all to learn.

12 Tony Deprado, IT Director – YK Pao School, Shanghai, China

Tony Deprado is as thorough and professional as they come. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to speak with him about all things IT Director-related. From breaking down what it has looked like to have been the IT Director for the past year, to offering great insights into how to approach and deploy a BYOD program, to how his IT Director position is evaluated at his current school, Tony offers up great input into what it means to drive IT in a student-centered school such as YK Pao. This is one of the lengthiest conversations to date, and I bet you will come back feeling like it was not long enough for you.

You can visit Tony’s website (www.tonydeprado.com) to get your copy of the BYOD guide he has published and is currently updating.

Enjoy!
